Carver McGriff left Indiana as a 19 year old to join the battle for freedom in Europe, 1943. His memoir, "Making Sense of Normandy: A Young Man's Journey of War and Faith," is a wonderful blend of the historicity of the event and his own personal story. Wounded in battle, captured by the Germans and eventually rescued by the 8th Infantry Division, he went home to live a Life shaped by his war experiences and minister in Faith as a pastor of the United Methodist Church. During our retirement, we led groups of people on his WWII journey in Normandy. Unfortunately, a 5 year struggle with Cancer took his Life just 6 weeks shy of his 100th Birthday. I want his story to be remembered and told over and over.
Places visited will include sites important to Carver's experiences, along with other major historical sites in Normandy.
